Applique Thread

Thank you so much for your compliments on my machine appliqué. I think everything is such a learning process, this is the first time that I have used silk thread and the little zigzag stitch instead of a buttonhole stitch.

I did experiment with a lot of different threads. I tried the invisible threads also, since I am making such a small applique stitch, 1.0 length, 1.5 width, the thread just did not lay right. Some of the regular cotton threads just seemed a little bit too thick and bulky.

I went with 50 weight silk thread, I use the thread in the top and in the bobbin. The kind I have is YLI, I really like the way that it stitches, I think the weight of the thread is the most important. So now I am in the process of seeing if I can collect some more colors of silk thread, there are a lot of colors out there, but not all are 50 weight. If anyone else knows of any other brand names of 50 weight thread, please let me know.

I love seeing everyone's work, it is all such an inspiration to me. When I finished my first block, the first thing I will do is post a picture.
