My Third Block

I had the chance to finish my third Roseville Album block this week. I have some work done on the top and bottom border and another block prepped, but this is the third block completed. It seems like forever since I have worked on this quilt, I am nearing the finish line on the Civil War Bride quilt and then my attention will be turned to Roseville Album. I have all of my RA blocks done so far on the design wall so I have been seeing them a lot this week. I have followed the pattern fairly close for fabric choices on my first three blocks but I am getting some ideas for changes and thanks to all the good ideas on this blog I am getting braver to try some different things.

My Second Block

I have had a rare day with nothing on my schedule or "to do" list for the day and got to finish this block. What fun, just get up, slip into comfy clothes, no make up, no hair curling, just sew. I am doing my blocks with blanket stitch applique, I had the block prepped and started a while back. I have enjoyed reading all of your posts and seeing every one's blocks.

A Friend's Quilt

I just returned from my local quilt guild's fall retreat, Camp Wannamakeablankie. One of the guild members, Pam, pieced this entire log cabin quilt top at camp. It is made entirely of Kaffe Fassett's fabrics and it was just wonderful. Each block center was fussy cut.

I believe this pattern is found in Kaffe Fassett's book Quilt Romance.

Are any of you Glorious Appliquers headed to Houston to the the International Quilt Festival? I am so excited to be seeing Kim's Roseville Album in person. There is also a lunch lecture on Thursday, November 4, by Kaffe Fassett.

House Building & a Tabby Cat

Just a quick little note about the current block I am working on. I had a blue cat that just was not quite right and I could not find a piece large enough in a color I liked (I know hard to believe with all the wonderful colors we are working with in this fabric). Anyway, the answer was in the blog - piece the fabric -Thank You Denise - great idea! I love this little orange striped cat.

I Have Started

I have had my pattern and fabric for several weeks and then stalled...hand or machine applique. I like to do both. Finally, after weighing several time factors and current hand applique projects I decided to do my Roseville Album with machine applique. I like to use a blanket stitch to applique and I already had threads to match most of the beautiful Kaffe Fassett fabrics. So I started in the middle of the quilt with the fruit compote block. I didn't vary too much on fabric choices from the pattern, but I will get braver with these bright fun fabrics as I go. I have enjoyed every bodies posts and have learned a lot from this blog.
