READY TO QUILT

OK, this will be my last post of this quilt, but I would love some feedback before I finish. What ideas do you have about quilting this spring quilt? Also do you like the border of black with dots?

I have enjoyed this process and learning so much from you all. I am anxious to begin my next appliqued/pieced quilt. Thank you for sharing you creations with me, and inspiring me to expand what I know.

with gratitude,

Pete

Blizzard Block

Greetings from the snowbound Midwest in the U.S. As bad as it is here, I am concerned about our Australian friends in the path of the cyclone. We could all use less weather drama. I hope you all all safe and will remain so.

A few days ago I finished my third (pink) corner block for Roseville. I rather dreaded all those fussy "hands," but in the end they were fun to do and very satisfying. You can see the three corners I have finished so far, and I have cut out the fourth. But I have to take a break for a time to make a baby quilt for my third grandchild, due at the end of April.

I'll be following the rest of you in the coming weeks. Happy stitching.

I Met My Deadline

Here is my first panel of the Flower Pots quilt. Setting a self-imposed deadline was an excellent idea; I sewed morning, noon (lunch break at work) and night. When I finally finished the last stitches this morning and stepped back to look at it, I was pleased. I still have a lot to learn but it sure is fun.
I started stitching the flowers on December 30; the stems and the pot were already done. So it took roughly 3 weeks which isn't too bad.
Most of the applique was done after front-basting by hand, which sounds like a lot of work. But I don't mind doing it, and having most of the flowers basted let me carry it around and work on it without having to run to my 3rd floor studio to pin new pieces on. I think I'll continue to to do that.
Onward!

My Squirrel panel

It has taken me (too) many months, but I took the last stitches in that top-most bird tonight!  : )  I do have ALL the circles to place and stitch yet.  All things considered, I feel pretty satisfied and wanted to share my Squirrel panel with you.

Also you will see my little jar of prepared circles.  Along with a stack of circles ready to be made.  They all have a running stitch and are waiting for a bit of starch and my iron.  Perhaps one day soon...
Enjoy your day and the stitches you take!

Piecefully, Pam

Difficult Decision

I am so happy that I have RA,PF,LT (www.gloriouscolor.com) and TFS (annettegero.com). It was not an easy decision which one will I make first. I love all of them. Finally I choose to start with The Sarah Evans Quilt (thank kim for the information).

Most of the fabrics are Kaffe Fasset, I will add the fabrics along with the process. I need to order them from gloriouscolor, because Kaffe fasset collections at local quilt shops are very limited.
I scan the pattern, enlarge them, and print directly on freezer paper. After write down the number and cut out the pattern, I iron them onto the right side of fabrics, and trace them around. Choosing the fabrics is another big issue. Maybe it is not the right process, but i choose fabric for one piece of the pattern and then do applique instead of choose and cut for all the pieces of the pattern. I do front basting and needle turn method. I could not stop....

Here is my first block. It took me one day to complete it. For the stems I use clover quick bias. My buddy insisted me to take a picture of him with the block:)
I cannot wait to continue with another block and another pattern. My sewing machine is kaput right now, another reason not to continue with another projects..

Ready to begin

Here's my Kaffe/Brandon stash. I received my Stars and Sprigs pattern. The center pile is the background for the applique blocks with the center markings machine stitched as Kim suggested in the pattern. I'm going to use the darker grey for the stems. As much as I loved the darker background choices so many of you made, it just didn't happen in my mind's eye for me. Hope I can find some time to start on the blocks in the next few weeks so I can stitch my way through the holidays and share some blocks!

Moving right along

Progress has slowed a lottle, but my ambition remains alive. This shows my progress, not all are appliqued yet, but I need to take pictures like this to see the overall look easier. I can also study the layout and change what is not sewn down yet. Much learning has taken place, and I am inspired to keep going and try new ways as I follow all the projects. Stars and sprigs is on the horizon but I am to finish this for Christmas.

I would love any and all feedback, as I am still a beginner.

They're here!!

Look what came in today's mail! Yummy colors and my Roseville Album pattern. Funny, I didn't know it was tissue paper. Oh well, that's okay. I am so happy I don't have to go to Staples and have it enlarged.
Now I have to find a background. 9 1/2 yards! Good thing my guild's quilt show is coming up on the 25th/26th.
PS-Please don't think I'm criticizing the tissue paper. I was just surprised is all.
